Happy New Year! New Year's Honours!! Get SB6 Into The North East!!!

Well well well!

First of all, Happy New Year 2012!

For us, 2011 has been an awesome year. Starting with the release of 'New Style Rocka', across the summer festivals and into the autumn it became a year where we feel we've hit our stride again. We feel more excited about our new album than we did before releasing 'The Ruff Guide To Genre-Terrorism' and we are ready to own 2012. We had a ton of highlights including 'For the Kids of the Multiculture' being single of the week on Kerrang!, making it on to 4Music, Kerrang! and Scuzz TV and Laila singing with Ginger from The Wildhearts at Sonisphere and with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at Reading Festival.

We've got the album recorded and it's ready to drop on you like the proverbial ton of bricks as soon as we can make it happen... and therein lies the rub. This is why it is so important that these next few gigs go off like a bomb. I know it's "that time of the year" but we haven't sold enough of our allocated £6 tickets for our Music Week Breakout show on January 11th at Proud, Camden to be sure that this gig is what it needs to be. I know you've got £20 off Auntie Margaret you're just dying to splurge on gig tickets. Come and make it so! We have 50 tickets in stock and you can buy the tickets direct from us AND AVOID BOOKING FEE COMPLETELY! That's just £6 a ticket! Click HERE to grab a ticket. I have to stress that ARTIE FUFKIN from POLYMER RECORDS and many of his friends are coming to the show. If you guys don't show up in full force, we're gonna have to kick his ass! Don't make us kick a guy's ass!!!

On the subject of the new year, we're truly honoured to be NUMBER ONE in Ska Vids Top 10 Videos of 2011 with our summer favourite 'Sunny Side Of The Street'. Thanks to the guys at Ska Vids and be sure to go and check out the rest of the Top 10 and 'LIKE' those guys HERE. Also, we've been lucky enough to win the 'SLOW BURNER 2011' award in Big Cheese! magazine, with the guys decreeing "with their new album ready to drop, just watch them own 2012".

In addition the forthcoming London dates and the February tour, we've been trying to sort out a show in the North East to make up for the show that got cancelled last tour due to the promoter bailing out. The good folks at Something Else Promotions are trying to make it happen for us. In their words... "We've been talking to the good folks at Primary Talent about booking SB6 for a Newcastle show. If we get enough support here it will definitely happen, to please share and help a DIY promoter in the North" Go and pledge your allegience to a Newcastle show at page on Facebook called SONIC BOOM SIX in Newcastle 2012 HERE.

Last buy not least, as I say, 2011 was a year of re-invention for 'The Boom'. And in the store right now we have the 2011 Singles Collection Boxset. Across these singles you can take the journey across this pivotal year starting with the dancefloor explosion of 'New Style Rocka' through to the summer festivals with 'Sunny Side of the Street' and finally to the forthcoming album's incendiary opening salvo 'For The Kids Of The Multiculture'. If 2012 is set to be the year of The Boom, then it was ignited by this little box of bangers and you can grab it HERE. AND there are still a limited number of exclusive hand-numbered screen-printed posters at our store if you spend over £20 (excluding P&P). Why not get rid of that Christmas money that's been burning a hole in your pocket?! If it's all gone, go and shake out your envelopes, you might have missed a tenner.

OK then, that's that. I hope we ALL have a wonderful 2012. My favourite record of the year was the new Crazy Arm album 'Union City Breath' and my favourite film was Drive. Best TV show was Breaking Bad. As ever, hit me up on Twitter at @sonicboomsix or email me on barney@sonicboomsix.co.uk if you wanna have a chinwag.

My favourite photo of the year was this...
