Live SB6 Webchat / Acoustic Sesh! Super London Show Prize Giveaway!!
Oooh, I'm excited.
After an amazing weekend of gigs at the Hit The Deck festival and last night's unbelievable support show with the mighty Hadouken! we're right back into the swing of the live show. Thanks to everyone that caught us and all the positivity we've had flying our way. Before we fly over to Czech for our festival on Tuesday, we're going to spend Sunday recording and producing at Casa Boom. Seeing as we're all together, we're going to participate in a live webchat hosted by the great guys at Hit The Floor webzine from 8pm. We'll be chatting away, answering questions and performing a couple of acoustic numbers to groove along to. And YOU are able to interact and ask questions via the Hit The Floor Webchat page. I promise that it will be better than watching Coronation Street. So, it's an exclusive webchat with ![]() As if you didn't already know our London headline show is just SIX DAYS AWAY. If you haven't yet grabbed a ticket, you REALLY better hurry. Our last London show sold out so we don't want to see any sad faces outside this time. We've got The Dead Formats, Hype Theory and Alt Track and XFM's Rich Walters spinning records throughout the night. We even made the last minute decision NOT to do a run-through of 'Equality Street' at our warm-up show in Poole last week so it is genuinely an extra-special one-off play at this show. I can't believe I agreed to it, but it's happening... FACEBOOK EVENT HERE. TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW HERE. What's more, we've even got a RAFFLE. We were recently sent a one-off prototype Sonic Boom Six t-shirt by our retail merch company and we thought it would make a great prize. So, we'll be throwing in another couple of things into the mix for one lucky winner and having a good old-fashioned raffle. Raffle tickets will be available on the merch desk on the night and my lovely assistant Laila K will pick and announce the winner from the stage on the night. All proceeds are going to go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, so make sure you get involved! ![]() And that's that for today. Look out for news of our next single coming very soon... and if you're from the UK, see you in London on Wednesday. No excuses, this one's gonna Boom! Until The Sunlight Comes... Barney x Gigs and Shows a Go-Go! Flatline Viral Vid!! Boom Rarity Surfaces!!!
Hey guys
Our super-duper London headline extravaganza is just over a fortnight away. Your attendance is absolutely mandatory by the way. In addition to the awesome Dead Formats, Hype Theory and Alt Track, we've added XFM's Rich Walters spinning records throughout the night. We're currently confirming a couple of special guest vocalists coming to add their dulcit tones to tunes they appeared on from the Boom back catalogue. As well as that, we've been rehearsing this past weekend and a certain David Brent reggae tune is sounding rather wonderful indeed. We're too good to you. If you don't live in London, you know where to go... http://www.megabus.co.uk/ FACEBOOK EVENT HERE. TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW HERE. ![]() We've been adding lots of international festivals over the summer! The day before our London show, we're gonna be over in Czech playing Budvar Fest 6 and we've got a whole host of dates dotted about the summer as well as festival warm-up dates in Keighley and Poole. Check them out below. Elsewhere on the worldwide web, I woke up this morning and a character called Aiden Selwood had forwarded me this little video he'd made for 'Flatline' off the new album. With live footage of SB6 and tons of coverage of the 2011 riots off TV, Aiden's done the song proud and I thought it was worth a good share. Check it out! HERE :D Also making itself known on the internet this week is a massive Boom rarity. This is 'The GASH guide to GASH parties', a spoken word manifeseto over a dub backing by Extra Love featuring Barney and Laila K. We recorded this a while back for our friends at the GASH collective who are a huge part of the North West music scene as well as a vital sound system and champions of the free party ethos. If the player doesn't appear in your browser, check it out HERE. And that's that for this week. We're gonna be trying out our new set at a show in Poole at Mr Kyps this Friday and then this weekend it's the Hit The Deck Festival. We're going to be rocking the O2 Academy Bristol 1 on Saturday April 20th 2013 as well as The Main Hall of Rock City, Nottingham on Sunday April 21st. We're gonna be doing some acoustic stuff and some pre-show interviews too so keep your eyes peeled. Hit The Deck, here we come! Until The Sunlight Comes... Barney x ![]() 'Let's Push Things Forward' Video! The Legion Of Boom Needs You!! & 'Equality Street'(!)!!
Yes now!
Over on the Xtra Mile Recordings YouTube page right now is our new video for 'Let's Push Things Forward'. The promo was recorded live at last year's Portsmouth and (sold-out!) London shows and also features footage from our visit to the studio to record the track. Cheers to Gregory Nolan for all the hard work! Our version of The Streets' 'Let's Push Things Forward' is a homage to the influence that Mike Skinner had on the band, both from a musical and lyrical standpoint. Unveiled on our last headline album tour, the track was met with an awesome response from the crowds so we took the opportunity to record the song in the studio as a B-Side for our 'Keep On Believing' single. Come and watch the video HERE NOW! 'Keep on Believing' is still available as a digital download through Xtra Mile Recordings. Tracklisting is as follows: 1. Keep On Believing (Single Mix) 2. Let's Push Things Forward 3. Keep On Believing (Capitol 1212 remix) Buy it from iTunes http://bit.ly/11DJaKu Buy it from Amazon http://amzn.to/WRreYQ Next on the agenda! The Boom need YOU! With all of the activity going on over the last few months, our hands are very full so we’re looking for some help with it all. We're interested in getting some of our biggest fans involved and are looking to organise some Boom street teams. Basically we’re looking for people to help out in all areas of promotion in terms of releases, merch and tours in return for various goodies and guestlists. This is a vital part of the band's activities and we’re keen to get more of you working with us to keep The Boom moving forward. Drop us an email at legionofboom@sonicboomsix.co.uk letting us know which town you’re in, your age and your facebook profile and we’ll send you some more detailed info with how it all works... ![]() Finally, as many of you know, on May 1st we are gonna be performing a HEADLINE SHOW in Camden Underworld! We've got a cracking line up featuring The Dead Formats. The Hype Theory, and Alt Track, plus we've got some special guest DJs coming along. Tickets are rolling out and our last London show sold out so please get on this... And there's another reason to come to the show. The other night I was watching Comic Relief (a bit drunk) and people kept suggesting on my Twitter we cover Dead Brent's ridiculously brilliant reggae song 'Equality Street'. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out HERE. We're all massive fans of Ricky Gervais and The Office, so high on the heady vibes of finally hearing 'Equality Street' after a decade (with no informing the rest of the band!) I promised that we would cover it... providing we can sell enough tickets for the London show at Camden Underworld to fill the place up. We'll do a donation for charity too, to keep it in the Comic Relief spirit. If you want to hear this (ABSOLUTELY) one-off spectacle, go and grab a ticket. Now! FACEBOOK EVENT HERE. TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW HERE. And that's that for today. We're looking forward to playing the awesome Radstock Festival this Saturday. Hope to see some of you there! Until The Sunlight Comes... Full London Show Line-Up! Download And More Festivals!! 'Virus' On Rock Band!!!
Well now!
First things first, thanks a bunch to everyone that came to one of the recent gigs, it was certainly one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. Huge thanks and love to The LaFontaines and Under The Influence. We are gonna miss you all! But, time waits for no man and we've got another cracking headline date booked in the diary. On May 1st we are gonna be performing a HEADLINE SHOW in Camden Underworld! The Underworld is always crazy and the last London show sold out so I'd advise you to grab your tickets now. And we've got some very special guests lined-up. In main support is a band we've wanted to play with since we heard them a few years back, the awesome Essex mod-hardcore-punkers The Dead Formats. Next up is The Hype Theory, a band we've caught at festivals and whose pop-punk has always had us grinning and pumping our fists. And then are our friends Alt Track, with a mix of Punk-influenced Trip-Hop, D&B and Electronica that will open the gig with a bang. Plus we've got some special guest DJs coming along. It's gonna be quite the show! FACEBOOK EVENT HERE. TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW HERE. ![]() And we've got further festival announcements to hit you with! We're proud as punch to announce that we are playing Download festival, along with Iron Maiden(!), Slipknot and many more. We are headlining the Red Bull stage on Sunday 16th June. This is a real biggie for us so it would be amazing to see your support... no matter who we're clashing with! ;) Tickets HERE. We're stoked to announce we'll be rocking the socks off Takedown 2013 along with The Blackout, DON BROCO, Marmozets, Max Raptor and many more on May 11 at Southampton University. Tickets HERE. For the rest of the gigs and festivals we've got coming up, check out our gig page HERE.
Elsewhere, you gamers can go and grab 'Virus' on the Rock Band Network now! It looks extremely tricky judging by the videos on Youtube like THIS one, especially that middle bit when it goes all mental. But this guy is GOOD! As one plucky YouTuber said 'THIS BREAKDOWN IS SICK!' Grab it and all the info HERE. Finally, someone recently DM’d me and asked for my reaction to an article about SB6 on Tumblr (as it’s an open letter) questioning our approach to politics. I've written a fairly quick response to the points the guy made and I hope it sheds some light on our approach to politics in music and our place in it. You can read it HERE. As ever, please follow us on Tumblr and Twitter and if you enjoy what you read, send me some questions and keep pressing me to do more, much like a blog personal trainer.
